El movimiento mod fue un movimiento musical y cultural basado en la moda y la música que se desarrolló en Londres, Reino Unido a finales de la década de 1950 y que alcanzó su culmen durante la primera mitad de la década de 1960. Los seguidores de esta corriente fueron conocidos como mods, y se localizaban sobre todo en el sur de Inglaterra, aunque también eran numerosos en ciertas ciudades del norte (como Manchester, o incluso Liverpool). Los elementos más significativos son música, moda y scooters.

La película Quadrophenia (1979), basada en el doble LP de The Who Quadrophenia (1973), recreó los disturbios mencionados desde el punto de vista de un mod. Debido en parte al éxito de este film, hubo un revival del movimiento mod a finales de los setenta, seguido a su vez de otro en el resto de Europa a principios de los ochenta. Muchos de estos últimos grupos estaban influidos por el punk inglés. Este revival fue encabezado por la banda de Paul Weller, The Jam, seguido de otras bandas, como Secret Affair, liderada por Ian Page, Purple Hearts, Merton Parkas, Chords o The Lambrettas. A estas bandas les sucedieron otras de ska two tone, con grupos como The Specials,The Beat, The Selecter o Madness. Para recuperar los sonidos originales, Randy cozens, -un mod de la primera época-, reclamó una vuelta a los sonidos originales, publicando su célebre lista Mod Top 100, que se convirtió en un referente en cuanto a música mod negra.

Camisas entalladas, polos entallados, jerseys de pico, jerseys de cuelllo de cisne, de cuello redondo. Camisas y polos entallados y estilo 1960s de marcas como Ben Sherman, Fred Perry, Merc, John Smedley, Penguin, Gabicci, Roberto Carlo y hechas a medida; americanas de tres botones: solapa estrecha, cierre alto, raja atrás o dos en los laterales. A medida y bien entalladas, frecuentemente con bolsillo o bolsillos “ticket pocket”.

Corbata, foulard (pañuelo).

Delineador de ojos en ocasiones.
